Saturday Update 3/31/07

Thank you all for your fasting with us today. We definately felt the support of so many of you who were praying and fasting with us. We have truely felt the arms of love extended towards us. Thank you.

Now, the 'juice' you've all been waiting for...........

We gathered for family prayer to end our fast and had an opportunity to talk with the neurologist about Ty's progress. We are very excited for all of the small miracles we are seeing along the way.

A couple of exciting things...she has tried (and succeeded) to open her eyes on her own, even under sedation. It actually happened when her doctor was in the room and he couldn't discount that she was responding! They again held a picture in front of her and then lowered it down and her eyes followed!!! There was a definate response! She has also started to gag on the respirator occassionally. A good sign! She has had a CT scan every day and today there was a moderate positive change. The doctor says the swelling on her brain has gone down a little (yippee!) and when she is on 'sedation vacation' she is not having the seizures as she was before (another major positive). There are so many little things we are seeing that she wasn't doing before. Things are still touchy but we are over joyed with the small progresses. We can feel the spirit of the Lord and the peace he brings as we work through this. It is amazing to be a part of such a great blessing/trial!

We all still feel like a miracle is on it's way for Tyree. Chris' sister, Natalie, said it best, "God is not going to only give us only half a miracle. He's going to give a full blown one. He doesn't do anything half way!" What a great way to put it.

We are so thankful to all of Ty's great doctors and nurses who are doing such a great job with her. Please send a prayer of gratitude for them. We are confident she is in the best care!

P.S. We also were able to catch some parts of General Conferene today and have felt so inspired by the words and messages that were shared. What a wonderful time of year as we get to hear from our church leaders and prepare for the greatest time of year...Easter and the celebration of life of the Savior. That is what we will celebrate this week as well--Life and renewal!

Tyree,
I just wanted to let you know that you have been in mine and Derick's prayers since Sunday when you were DC from VVMC. Brock has even said bless baby jocleyn's mommy on his own. We love you and can't wait to finally give you that scrapbook of your ultrasounds. Love always Jessica, Derick, Brock Fringer

That is great news! I'm so happy to hear that she is responding to stimulants and the world around her. Ty and the entire family will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

I think that waking up that first time and realizing that she was in a strange place and seeing a picture of her baby girl has really inspired her to get better! She's just going to keep on getting better and I am excited to see the miracle that Easter brings for her...and waht a great day for a miracle like this! I am so excited! Keep fighting Ty! You can do it!

I had the privilege of spending time with Tyree while the family was breaking the fast and having family prayer. It was an entirely different experience from any other time I've spent with Ty. Tyree's eyelids would flutter and a couple of tears would form in the corners of her eyes when the nurses suctioned the saliva out of her mouth. I would sing her Primary songs to help calm her because she did act like she was uncomfortable, especially with the tube in her mouth. I Am a Child of God really seemed to relax her. A good friend advised us to start explaining to Tyree where she was and what was going on. So I let her know that she had gotten very sick, that her husband saved her life and that there were some machines and medicines helping her breathe and helping her heart and brain. I told her that many, possibly over one hundred people, were fasting and praying that she would get better to come back and take care of Jocelyn, Tyler and Chris. I told her many people, some she didn't know were being touched by her spirit. And then after a little while Ty completely relaxed and seemed to go into a "deeper sleep." There is no doubt in my mind that her spirit is working really hard to overcome her body's current physical condition. This was a very special time to spend with Ty and I am so grateful to have taken part in the fast and then to end it in the room with Tyree. Thank you to everyone who has become "a prayer warrior" on behalf of Tyree.

Love, Jenn Shurbet

We're still praying and will add the prayers of gratitude that you requested. It's wonderful to have so many specifics for which to give thanks.

A couple of 2am thoughts.

Tyree,
Chris your love so committed and true,is at your bedside to see this through.
With little Jocelyn there is great hopes, She needs her mom to show her the ropes.
Your family and friends scattered far and wide, All of their thoughts and prayers are on your side.
If you need more time, Continue to show us some signs.
Its been your time to rest, Just remember that you are "Blessed".
So open your eyes it's time to fight, The rest is over return to life.
We pray to "Father" our needs are great, Never forget "God is never late".
We love you, Come back soon!!!

Your friend,
Ray

Hello to my favorite family from Arcadia. I thought I'd drop a line that you might not get from anybody else...
Take this time to really grow as a family. Don't forget to laugh as much as you cry. You know how dysfunctional my family can be and I'm convinced that if it were not for the "yearly catastrophe" we always seem to have we would have split up a long time ago. It seems that every time we sit in the ICU waiting room for Dad, Mom, or whomever, we forge the bonds that keep us together, in spite of ourselves, for the following year. Our favorite activity always seems to be reminiscing about the funny things that used to happen when we were kids. Usually we end up laughing about the stupid stuff the sick person used to do until we cry...somehow it always made us feel better. Be strong together, laugh together, and cry together. You're in my prayers.
